Monkeypox cannot be spread by eating bush meat – Kumasi traders

Bush meat vendors in Kumasi have dismissed reports that eating the meat can transmit the monkeypox infection.

This comes after the Ghana Health Service issued a warning about the dangers of eating bush meat.

Traders that refused to give a recorded interview claim that their items are tested by the veterinary service before being sold.

As a result, they claim their products are healthy.

Some of the traders saw the warning against eating meat during the monkeypox outbreak as an intentional attempt to bring their enterprises to a halt.

They mentioned, for example, the cautions against their products during the ebola virus outbreak.

Meanwhile, the virus that causes monkeypox has been confirmed in Ghana.

Five cases have been verified in the Eastern, Bono, and Greater Accra regions, according to the Ghana Health Service.
