The Deputy Minister of local government and Rural Development, Honourable Augustine Collins Ntim has commended Contracta Engenharia Construction limited for excellent work and the speedy rate at which Phase 2 of the Kejetia redevelopment project is moving. 

The Deputy Minister who inspected ongoing projects such as phase 2 of the Central market redevelopment project and the Racecourse market redevelopment, also commended the Ashanti regional Minister, Honourable Simon Osei Mensah and the Kumasi Mayor Hon Osei Assibey Antwi for their impressive action towards the various projects.

Honourable Collins Ntim in an interaction with the media disclosed that the government is committed to ensuring that the project is completed on scheduled time to enable the traders to return to the market and conduct their businesses.

The minister, however, pleaded with all market traders and other stakeholders especially media men to as a matter of urgency cooperate with the government and the Contracta Engenharia Construction limited to ensure smooth completion of the various projects.

According to him, the government was committed to ensuring the speedy development of the nation, hence the need for everyone to exercise restraint.

He also seized the opportunity to meet stakeholders within various markets in the  Kumasi metropolis to discuss issues of importance.

Mr Osei Assibey-Antwi, the Mayor of Kumasi, in an interview with the media disclosed that leadership was in talks with illegal traders at the various places so that they could be peacefully evacuated to the new racecourse market. 

The mayor who could not announce the exact date for evacuating such traders was however optimistic the exercise was going to be successful after they meet all stakeholders.

He said the stakeholders' meeting that was going to involve the Ashanti Regional Minister, himself, the traders and other stakeholders was surely going produce an official date for the evacuation of all the traders to the new racecourse market.

He advised that traders should cooperate since every step they planned was meant to improve the safety and security of traders and consumers.

The Mayor said allowing traders to receive their merchandise, and customers to access the market in a safer and more organized manner was a priority of the government.

Lastly, Mr Emmanuel Danso, Consultant for the Contracta Engenharia Construction limited also called on the media, the traders, government and other stakeholders to cooperate with the contracta for successful completion of the project.

He however promised that the Contracta Engenharia company was poised to provide excellent work for the Ashanti region.
