Manchester United are reportedly confident to land Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo in their corner amid a transfer to Manchester City.

The transfer brouhaha between the two English clubs has taken yet another twist, as the Red Devils are now favourites to land the Juventus forward to beat their rival – Man City.

Latest reports suggest that the Sky Blues have now ended their interest in erstwhile United striker, paving the way for a sensational return to Old Trafford.TalkSport reports.

Sources suggest agent Jorge Mendes offered Ronaldo to the Red Devils earlier in the summer before going to Man City, but United chiefs said ‘no’.

But the Old Trafford club returned to Mendes on Thursday night to enter discussions over a stunning return of the 36-year-old Portuguese international.

Man United are now ‘seriously interested’ in re-signing their legendary former No.7 with negotiations now underway.

“I didn’t think Cristiano was going to turn out leaving Juventus.

“It’s been speculation this morning, speculation the last few days, of course.

“We’ve always had good communication – I know Bruno has been talking to him as well.

“He knows what we feel about him and if he was ever going to move away from Juventus, he knows that we’re here.” United boss Solskjaer said.

Speaking in a press conference today, United boss Solskjaer opened the door to a move for his former teammate.

He also revealed Bruno Fernandes, his team-mate at the international level for Portugal, has been speaking to Ronaldo about his future.

When United boss was asked if he had been tempted to make a move for his ex-teammate. Solskjaer said:

“Cristiano has been a legend of this club, he is a legend of this club – he’s the greatest player of all time if you ask me.

“I was fortunate enough to play with him, I coached him when I got my job.

“He almost retired me because that Wolverhampton game when I got injured, he kept switching sides.

“He’s such a tremendous human being as well, so let’s see what happens with Cristiano. Everyone who has played with him, I think, has a soft spot for him.”

Meanwhile, Man City boss Pep Guardiola has said the decision over Ronaldo’s future is his alone, with both Manchester clubs now battling for his signature.
