Mahama to Unveil Running Mate Today

The flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, is expected to officially announce his running mate for the 2020 presidential elections today [July 6, 2020].

The announcement is expected to take place when the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meets today at 11 am.

 

 

Per reports from Graphiconline, Mr. Mahama is expected to present either former Education Minister, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, a former Director-General of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), Dr. Isaac Bannerman Nii Moi Thompson, a former Minister of Health and Deputy Campaign Manager for the 2020 elections, Mr. Alex Segbefia or a former Finance Minister, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor as his choice of a running mate.

Mahama has been under pressure to disclose his running mate as the country nears its general presidential and parliamentary elections.

But the NDC's presidential candidate has repeatedly said his running mate would be immediately announced after party structures have been consulted to finalize the process.

On Saturday [July 4, 2020] John Dramani Mahama, met former President Jerry John Rawlings to discuss pressing matters, in relation to the party’s preparation towards the upcoming general election – of which, an appropriate running mate to Mahama, is said to have been discussed also.

Mahama, following the consultations, is expected to outdoor his running mate.
