NDC would win upcoming elections, if it’s free and fair – Mahama
John Mahama

Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama,  says the party would claim victory in the upcoming elections if it is organized in a free and fair manner.

According to Mahama, the opposition Party was against all forms of violence and vigilantism, and in the march-up to the 2020 polls.

Mr Mahama who was speaking at the Ho central market during his campaign tour of the Volta Region yesterday, August 20, said all votes must count, therefore the people must endeavor to protect their voter cards and ballot boxes.

"If the votes are free, fair and transparent, the NDC would win. We all must make our votes count. Protect your ballot box for a free fair and transparent election so the NDC will win,"

Mr Mahama expressed joy over the completed market complex saying it stood as proof of the NDC's infrastructure development efforts, adding that the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) had "nothing to show" for its financial borrowing.

He said the NPP government has abandoned many projects the NDC had ongoing, which he said would be completed when he wins back power under his 'big push for infrastructure' agenda.

Mahama who earlier addressed the Chiefs and people of Sogakpe in the South Tongu constituency in his campaign tour, raised questions over the use of monies borrowed by the Akufo-Addo government in fostering the Ghana’s development

According to the former president, the Akufo-Addo government has borrowed so much money and yet has nothing to show for it.

“In four years, the Akufo-Addo government has borrowed more than ¢140 billion, so the simple question Ghanaians should ask is, what have you done with the money? Where are the schools, the roads, electricity, water, the hospitals, and harbours?”

He said, his administration borrowed a little over ¢54 billion and showed for it by constructing roads,  building schools, healthcare infrastructure, harbours and airports, among others other developmental projects.
