Mad Rush For License To Cultivate Wee Farms
Information reaching the Soireenews.com indicates that there is a mad rush by Ghanian individuals, particularly the young ones to acquire license for the cultivation of cannabis follows the passage of the Narcotics Control Commission Act, 2020 (Act 1019) by Parliament.
This online news portal gathered that so far huge number of people have registered with the Ministry of Interior as the legal wee farmers in the country.

Some potential farmers who had registered commended government for the efforts to return them into business so they can also cater for their families.
“Mr. Journalist we the small scale wee farmers are dying from hunger, therefore, we are ready to comply with whatever the government wants us to do. Once it will give us money to feed our families and help the society why not?. the registrants pleaded.
Meanwhile the Narcotics Control Commission has cautioned persons interested in cultivating cannabis in the country against paying monies to individuals or groups promising to provide them with a license for the cultivation of the narcotic substance.

On Friday, 20th March, the Parliament of Ghana passed the Narcotics Control Commission Bill into law. This brought great excitement to many who have been following the legislative process since 2015, when the Bill was first introduced.

Many civil society organizations (CSOs) in Ghana laud the Government for this significant moment in the history of drug policy reform in the country.
The new law makes huge inroads towards more humane drug policy, and will pave way for other good examples to emerge in the sub-region.
