Liverpool football players have taken a knee around the Anfield center circle in a message to support the Black Lives Matter movement seeking justice over the death of George Floyd.

Certain cities in the United States of America have been thrown into a frenzy after an unarmed George Floyd, a black American died when a white Minneapolis officer knelt on his neck for almost nine minutes to pin him down.

The 29 Liverpool players spotted in the picture had the caption, “Unity is strength. #Black Lives Matters”.

 

 

Various sportsmen across the world have showered in support to the affected families and seek for justice to be served to command equality among persons.

Manchester United and England forward, Marcus Rashford is one player to have suffered discrimination at match venues. 

In a twitter post, the Black Englishman made known that people are hurting because they need answers hence his effort “asking people to come together and be united, we appear to be more divided than ever.”

 

 

He added that “Black Lives Matter. Black Culture Matters. Black communities matter. We matter.”

Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, James Milner, and Andrew Robertson tweeted the message to support the movement.

Chauvin has since been charged with his murder and sacked.
