Letting go of our land into the hands of McDan will be an abomination, we won't try it-ASLA declares

The fury of the rightful owners of the Ada Songhor Lagoon Basin will continue to be fueled as long as the galamsayer, Daniel McDan, still claims ownership of our land", the Spokesperson of the Ada Songhor Lagoon Association(ASLA) declares.

Mr. Karimo Ahunah maintained at a press conference last Saturday, July 8,2023 at Ada declaring his outfit's readiness to stand the might of what they termed "hired and state sponsored forces of McDan. According to ASLA, no chief owns land within the Ada West District but rather individual families and clans bequeathed to them by their forebears so for anyone in the likes of Daniel McKorley claiming ownership of over 41 acreage of land, might be doing that at his own risk.

The group's anger stemmed from a purported indication given by McDan concerning the commencement of operations by his Electrochem Limited in Ada West District at a recent stakeholders meeting.

The group further noted, "allowing McDan to take over our lands will amount to selling our birthright coupled with ancestral stool into the hands of an alien to decide their fate, something they vowed not to do.

Vehemently, the group(ASLA) has discounted the said announcement as though it did not happen stating that they do not know anyone and company called Daniel Mckorley and McDan respectively therefore will forever treat it as such.

The aggrived group also indicated its disappointment at the position assumed by the District Chief Executive Officer(Hon Sarah Pobe) who claimed she does not want to be briefed about past events adding, "to say the least, that was very sad because our pasts are like our shadows we can't cast off from us. They will follow us everywhere we journey as it is therefore confirmed by Confucius who once said "Study the past if you want to define or predict the future". It is clear that we cannot proceed forward without first making a recourse to our origin".

"And the truth about our origin is that, the Ada land is neither for McDan nor the chiefs",ASLA maintained.

The group however, stated its readiness to face what they referred to as the state and McDan sponsored "vigilante forces".

"...that you, foreigner, came to beat us on our own land unawares should not give you the impetus to try another time",the group said.

Aggrieved ASLA said it does not care if their DCE decides to join her counterparts to be servant of McDan's company neglecting their roles as servants of the people while describing the DCE's conduct at a meeting as one who suffers from "acute functional illiteracy and degenerative amnesia"who is refusing to appreciate the importance of history in society.

Meanwhile, the group said history is to be learnt and inculcated for guiding one's path into the future. "We would like to know if the DCE has even read the dubious, shambolic and totally unprofessional business plan prepared by McDan of which over 35,000 of Adaali-Abime are to be deprived of their livelihood for the benefit of McDan, his 2 shareholder wives and their cronies in this government?", it questioned.

The group continued", We would like to know whether she has read these books "Who Killed Maggie",The Report of the Amissah Committee of Enquiry; PNDC Law 287;The Master Plan for Salt Development in Ghana and numerous other reports produced on the Songor Lagoon issue.

Of course, being the sort of person she is we do not expect her to see the need to read and digest any of these reports and publications to educate herself. If we do, we might be asking for too much from her! We would suggest that the Honourable DCE properly educate herself on the history of Dangbe people in relation to the Songor Lagoon from the time our forefathers fought 2 separate wars against the Ashantis before she disgraces herself further", ASLA concludes in a statement.
