Land Dispute Erupts at Akyem Old Tafo Zongo, Irate Youth Block Road

There is simmering tension at Akyem old Tafo Zongo in Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region Ghana, over a piece of land.
The dispute on the land is between the Zongo Chief and a drinking spot operator, however, the entire Zongo youth have jumped onboard against the drinking bar Operator creating tension in the community.
The youth are threatening to burn down the drinking spot. Already they have allegedly destroyed a temporal structure erected by the bar Operator.
On July 22, 2021, Frank Ofori -Atta, owner of Frankiss drinking spot at Akyem Old Tafo Zongo, requested the supply of the gravel to cast concrete in front of his house where he operates the bar as part of renovation ahead of the Odwira festivity.
However, a mob were allegedly incited by one Issah Musah, who is part of a family litigating against the bar operator on that piece of land stormed the place, violently prevented the truck driver from offloading the gravels on the disputed land claiming it is a street.
The mob forced the truck driver to offload the gravel in the small spaced house of Frank Ofori Atta who together with other tenants and his 80-year-old mother has been sleeping with the gravel in the house.
Occupants of the house have to manoeuvre around the heap of gravel every day before they could go out.
Frank Ofori Atta told the media, that the 120 by 100 square plot of land on which he occupies with his 80-year-old mother was acquired by the family many decades ago.
However said, a few months ago, the construction of a house for Old Tafo Zongo Chief who is staying abroad begun on a nearby half plot of land, but the developer Samuel Agbeleke trespassed into other lands which belongs to a different person.
Later, one Issah, incited the youth against him to prevent him from developing the little piece of land left for him stating that it is a street.
He said hosting his guests on the land has not become dangerous as the Zongo youth deliberately menace frequently with motorbikes just to scare away his Customers.
Contemplating Frank Ofori -Atta says he is going to court to seek justice and interpretation of the law.
