The Kwabre East Municipal Assembly have commissioned three offices to enhance coordination between residents and the government through helping to identify and resolve challenges on a reliable channel of communication.

The Office of the Administrator for Stool Lands, Birth and Death Registry and Legal Aid Commission were opened on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, to function purposely for the people in the Assembly.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Kwabre East, Honorable Osei Assibey Bonsu addressed that the offices have been established to help maintain peace and sanity among the people and gather figures necessary for essential high-quality vital statistics.

He opened that less privileged people must be unrestricted in registering inconvenient circumstances for government’s protection and advice. 

“Government is appointed for the key interest of the people through the resolution of disputes, misunderstanding, cheating and deceits. People go through a lot and later end their lives because of litigation matters which they have no one to stand in their defence,” he said.

“I, therefore, decided to open these offices so that cases affecting my people can be channelled for solutions,’ he added.

Honourable Assibey Bonsu spoke that tolerance of late is fading in the society and explained that people now prefer dictating the laws to their advantage.

He educated that the laws have been set up to check insubordination and provide a fair platform for everyone irrespective of status therefore as election looms, discipline must be received to keep Ghana’s peaceful run going.

“There are lots of disorderliness across the country in every area of work.  We are appealing to everyone to be embrace discipline to prevent any trouble. As we approach elections, let’s not override the laws of the country and put things in our own hands,” he added.

The Ghana Legal Aid Commission established to act as a Public Defender for financially disadvantaged citizens boast of an office among the three in the Kwabre East Municipal and according to the Ashanti Regional Director, Mr Kwaku Frimpong since the institution is fundamental to the fight against corruption, the decentralization process will help Ghanaians reach out easily.

“This is an office established to stand by the deprived in to resolve disputes, test and enforce laws in a fair and rational manner. Whoever is facing an unfavourable charge in litigations can report to our office and we are ready to serve them.

"Government want everyone to be treated fairly hence the legal aid. Certain cases need legal advice, whiles others sometimes have to go to court.”
