The rapper said that he grew up in a family that experienced financial hardships in an interview with Naana Donkor Arthur. He also talked about his humble beginnings and financial issues.

He emphasized that he had good explanations for his decisions and that buying pricey designer gear was never his main goal.

My family experienced financial hardships as I was growing up. Eugene said, "We didn't have much." So, when I became successful in the music business, I didn't make fancy gowns a priority.

Even as his reputation and money increased, Eugene revealed that his mother and siblings continued to live in a simple one-bedroom apartment in Fadama. He added that it prevented him from spending a significant amount of money on luxury clothing.

"I couldn't justify spending all my hard-earned money on clothes when my family was living in a one-bedroom apartment," Eugene said.

Since he entered the profession, Kuami Eugene has faced harsh criticism from Ghanaians for his fashion decisions.
