Falz describes his near-death encounter with "Boko Haram"

According to a Vanguard News story, Falz was in the automobile with his managers, Femisoro Ajayi and Sidney Sule, when suspicious-looking guys opened fire on the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle immediately died as a result of the gunshots.

He went on to say that the individuals who attacked them were "turban-tying, AK47-wielding," and that the incident happened during Boko Haram's heyday in the nation.

He revealed this while guesting on the most recent Untapped episode featuring media personality Gbemi O.

In his own words: "This was me working as a lawyer in my dad's firm in 2013, right after NYSC."

Then, we received a call inviting us to a show in Abuja. The logistics would be handled, and the payment was N1 million. We went since there was a wedding.

"A flight from Abuja to Lagos did not exist. So, we rented a car to go to Benin from Abuja. I led a strong prayer, which is probably what kept us alive.

We set out on the journey at around 2:00 p.m. in the bright sunshine. We slept off on the journey.

"And then there was a loud bang." When we woke up, these dangerous-looking, turban-wearing men were standing in the center of the freeway.

"They fired a shot at the car, which is what caused the bang we heard." Once more, they fired at our automobile, sending the bullet hurtling between all of us. It all happened so quickly.

"They fired at us once again, and the driver was struck in the eye by the bullet. The driver expired immediately. The vehicle took off. It was crazy. I recall thinking, "This is it," as I saw the automobile going into a ditch.

After that, we fainted. It was me who turned around first. "Where is the money?" inquired one of the men as I got out of the car. I informed him that there was none. In search of cash, he heads to the car.

We hadn't arrived in Lokoja yet, but we had left Abuja. There was only forest. We were somewhere in the north at the apex of Boko Haram.

"We heard sirens going off in the distance. The police stayed well away. They then turned up the heat and opened fire. Afterwards, they withdrew and went away from us.

"We attempted to halt vehicles on the freeway, but nobody stopped at all. Eventually, a policeman showed up, followed by a man claiming to be a doctor.

After the incident, Falz expressed concern that his parents would not have permitted him to pursue his musical career.
