Kenya leader deletes tweet over Western Sahara ties

Following a meeting with Morocco's Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, Kenyan President William Ruto removed a tweet that had previously revoked Kenya's long-standing recognition of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).

A day after taking office as Kenya's fifth president, Mr. Ruto posted on Twitter, "Kenya rescinds its recognition of the SADR and takes efforts to wind down the entity's existence in the country."

He also endorsed the UN framework in charge of resolving the conflict over Western Sahara, which has long been contested by Morocco and the Polisario Front, the Sahrawi independence movement.
