Jota had 60 or 70 minutes to watch how Sadio is doing - Klopp on his watch and learn tactics
Klopp embrace Jota after the game.

Jurgen Klopp says he asked Diogo Jota to watch and learn from how Sadio Mane presses before he was introduced into the game ten minutes to end proceedings.

The new acquisition by the Reds scored in his debut in the Reds 3-1 win against Arsenal on Monday night at Anfield.

Following his introduction to the game, the former Wolves player had three chances in the box, one, he narrowly missed by the side of the net, the second was wrongly interrupted by Mohamed Salah and the third was converted beautifully after Luiz’s header fell for him.

The manager after the game spoke that the goal is a boost to the player’s development with the Champions with much to be expected from him.

“I love it. Diogo came on, played naturally his football, tried to defend the way we defend,” Klopp said.

“He is on 20 per cent of information on what we do exactly; we had meetings to talk about it and that will all take time. Today he had 60 or 70 minutes to watch how Sadio is doing and then he came on the pitch and did incredibly well. He scored a super goal, a nice first game at Anfield. He will never forget it, I will never forget it. A cool start.”

The German also praised Mohamed Salah for his incomparable display on the night. The Egyptian was very busy along the Liverpool front right, drifting the Arsenal defenders with his pace into their own box for opportunities and falling back to defend when the Gunners are on break.

Klopp said he wished Salah had also been on the scoresheet. The former Golden boot winner is still on three goals, secured in the Reds first game at Anfield against Leeds United.

“Mo played an absolutely exceptional game tonight; I would have wished for him that he could have scored. I don’t think Robbo’s goal was the reaction from the situation before [the Lacazette goal], the performance was the reaction and it was really good. The goal we scored was a cross from the right full-back and the left full-back finished it off, which is absolutely amazing.”

Liverpool will welcome Arsenal once again on Thursday night in the League Cup 1/16 stage.
