According to reports about 30% of riots in the Western Region of Ghana are a result of chieftaincy disputes in the country and the Jomorro Municipality Western Region is no exception.

The Municipal Chief Executive and also the head of the Jomorro Municipal Security Council in the Western Region, Honourable Louisa Iris Abelem Arde has debunked the rumours that the council is supporting and instigating any chieftaincy riots in the Jomorro municipality of the Western Region of Ghana since chieftaincy riots in the country have been a major concern to many.

According to reports about 30% of riots in the Western Region of Ghana are a result of chieftaincy disputes in the country and the Jomorro Municipality Western Region is no exception.

But the head of MUSEC in Jomorro, Louisa Iris Abelem Arde addressing a press conference at Half Assini debunked rumours that the Municipal Assembly is supporting and instigating chieftaincy riots or are behind any chieftaincy disputes in the area.

She added that the municipal security council is there to ensure peace in the area therefore every decision made is in the interest of the municipality and the people.

She added that the assembly and MUSEC will work with any chief who has been duly and officially introduced to the Assembly and MUSEC will legally protect the endorsed chief to prevent any further disputes.

She, therefore, called on all persons to seek peaceful co-existence to promote development in the Jomorro Municipality.
