Rex Omar has revealed more details about his membership status with the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He stated that unlike most other celebrities trying to talk up different parties, he has been a core member of the NDC since 1992.

The recently appointed sectoral spokesperson for the NDC who also doubles as the current Chairman of the Ghana Music Right Organisation (GHAMRO), made known that he is a registered member of the party.

He disclosed this while speaking in an interview with Kwabena Kyenkyenhene Boateng on  “Opposing Views’ on MX24GH.

“I am not a celebrity who has just got up to endorse a political party. I’ve been with NDC since 1992.

“Everybody who knows that When Rawlings was elected to power in 1992, myself and Amandzeba were there, and I’ve been with them since,” he added

He bemoaned how celebrities are treated when they openly show support for a political party.

According to him, all other Ghanaians don't get as much scrutiny as Ghanaian celebrities get when they endorse a party.

Rex Omar has never made a secret of how much he is involved in the affairs of the NDC, he had earlier stated that he is never ashamed of standing up for his party.

“I think it’s about time that we allowed artistes to also speak their mind. We are artistes but we’re also citizens: we have families, we have children, we are part of the system”.

“You cannot say, Because you’re an artist because you belong to the NDC or NPP then I hate you. Then what kind of system are we running?” he wondered.
