Kofi Jamar thinks the time has come for the rise of artists from Kumasi.

The artiste, who has bagged 7 nominations at the upcoming Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, used his nominations to encourage other artists from Kumasi to do better.

If he can pull in that many nominations, then any Kumerican can too, he noted.

“It’s a great feeling because looking at last year, that was my first entry. Last year I came in as unsung. This year, grabbing 7 nominations and being in the same space with my fellow Kumerican. I think this is the time that Kumasi got the chance to breakthrough. And I am proud to be part of the squad representing out here.”

Kofi Jamar asserted that he would love to win at least three awards from his nominations; the Vodafone Most Popular Song of the Year, Collaboration of the Year and Best Hip-hop Song of the Year.

The VGMA is set for this Friday and Saturday (25th and 26th June).

While speaking to Cookie Tee on New Day, he explained how his mother is very proud of him for this achievement.

“She is always happy. She is always beaming with smiles. And I can tell that she is really proud of what I have been able to accomplish. It gives me the fulfilment that I have been the pride of my family. And the pride of my people too.”

Kofi Jamar has been hot property following his 'Ekorso' track noting that he used to suffer rejections from artists before.

“People want to associate themselves with you when they see you up there. That human nature. Though I won’t say they completely turned me down at a time I needed them, they came up with all sorts of excuses at that time."

"This time around the excuses are no more, they all want a feature on the song and you can tell that it's part of human nature,”

“Ekorso blew up by itself. There was not much work put into the promotion. Much was not done for it in terms of finance. It just blew up because of the trend and it's spreading like wildfire. Although we are not making some plugins we are supposed to make, it is pushing itself,” He explained.
