Jurgen Klopp aired his frustration after Liverpool’s upsetting 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion at Anfield on Sunday evening.

The Reds would have extended their lead on top of the table to four points if they had grabbed all points against the promoted side after Chelsea, Spurs, Leicester and Manchester United all dropped points during the weekend.

Sadio Mane’s 12-minute goal opened the scores for the Reds in what looked like a goal-fest yet Sam Allardyce made sure his side prevented the Champions from doubling the advantage.

Klopp’s men were allowed to dominate play but failed to add another until a change in tactics warmed the West Midlands into the game.

Ajayi grabbed the equalizer through a corner which deflected the post into the net with eight minutes remaining as the search for a win proved futile for the Reds.

Klopp has said that West Brom cannot be credited for his side’s points dropped but as a result of their failure to take their chances having enjoyed most of the possession in the game.

“The problem that I have is I think West Brom deserved the point – it’s our fault, but they deserved a point in the second half,” Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com during his post-match.

“First half was a really strange game, I don’t know the stats yet but it looks like it was 90/10 possession or something like this. I can’t remember a counter-attack or whatever, we were just playing around and it’s a massive challenge, I know that, to stay on track and do it and do it and do it again.

“But we should have done it because on the other hand side it is exactly the same challenge to defend like West Brom defends for 95 minutes because they didn’t change a little bit when they were 1-0 down.

“First five minutes of the second half, they had more situations than they had in the entire first half and we could have sorted that by passing just easy, simple, quick to the next player. Prepare the position for the channel ball, also the runs and these kind of things.

“So we could have done it and we didn’t and that’s why it’s our fault that it’s in the end a 1-1 and not a 1-0 or 2-0 or whatever. So that’s what we have to accept and we do that, of course.”

Liverpool will play Newcastle United at the Saint James Park on Wednesday and the manager has told that his boys will respond against the Magpies after their disappointment.

“We should have won the game, or we wanted to win the game and we didn’t, and now we are all ‘depressed’ or whatever. The boys are more angry than anything else because they know that it was not perfect but that’s it and now, of course, we have to play the next game in three days.”
