Kevin De Bruyne is open to a contract extension at Manchester City although he has doubts concerning his future at the Etihad.

De Bruyne has three years on his current contract. He joined City from Wolfsburg in August 2015 in a club-record £55 million ($67m) deal, signed a five-year contract in January 2018.

The Sun on Friday, May 29, 2020, reported that the Belgian international is ready to start talks with the Citizens but expects the UEFA ban on the Champions to be fixed.

An Adjudicatory Chamber of the Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) found the Premier League club guilty of serious breaches of the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations. The club was also found guilty of "failing to cooperate in the investigation of this case by the CFCB".

De Bruyne in an interview three weeks ago opted to hold onto his contract extension until the decision from the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) is revealed.

"I have confidence in my club: if they are saying it's true, then I believe them. We'll wait and see what happens. Once there's a final decision I will look at it,” he said.

Man City officially has filed an appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the two-year ban from European competitions.
