It Is Time For Govt' To Get Another Examination Body to Compete With WAEC- CEO of EAI Urges
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Educate Africa Institute (EAI), an education policy think tank, William Boadi, has urged the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the government to bring another examination body on board to compete with WAEC in the conduct of the country's external examination to ensure positive competitiveness.
Following the statement issued by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) on the release of the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results that revealed the cancellation and withholding of some subjects results of the candidates and the cancellation of the entire results of about 75 students from both public and private schools,
He indicated that over the past years, results of WAEC-organized examinations have experienced a series of cancellations and withholding pending investigations.
He stressed there is a need for the authorities in the education sector to bring another examination body that will conduct these external exams to strike out the difference between their work and that of WAEC to pick the best one to lead examinations in Ghana.
He mentioned that WAEC has been consistent in preventing some of these young ones to further their education to next level due to these results cancellation.
