Bayern Munich head coach, Hans Flick has commended Thomas Tuchel for becoming the first manager to take Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League finals.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager who joined PSG in 2018 and replaced Unai Emery was on the verge of facing elimination from the quarterfinals against Atalanta, conceding the first goal in the early minutes of the first half.

A 90-minute goal by Marquinhos assured him of a place before Choupo-Moting’s late extra-time strike pushed his side into the semis.

Paris Saint Germain will play Bayern Munich in the 2020 Champions League finals in Portugal, Lisbon.

The two sides qualified into the competition’s concluding stages following 3-0 wins in their semi-final games – PSG overcame RB Leipzig by a three-goal thriller on Tuesday before Bayern Munich ended Olympique Lyon’s hopes on Wednesday night bagging three past Lopes.

The two sides have met eight times in European matches with the Ligue 1 side dominating the number of wins. PSG have won five and the rest have gone Bayern’s way with the most recent happening in 2017.

It is the first final for Thomas Tuchel’s side since the inception of the Champions League

He has commended his compatriot and accepted that playing him in the final will be a virtuous game between the two attacking sides.

"Thomas is doing a really good job. Well, I visited him once, and that's why I have the opinion that the team works very, very well.

"Despite all the things you get to read from time to time, these are just not the case, in my opinion. That's how I understood it, that's how I experienced it. He's doing a sensational job, and that's why I'm naturally looking forward to seeing Thomas in the final on Sunday."

Hans Flick has assessed the Paris team and speaking on the night after the Lyn game, he confessed how threatening the Ligue 1 champions can be which is why he has work to do on his defensive department to be able to hold the pressure from Neymar and Mbappe.

"Paris are a great team, they fought their way into the semi-final and then reached the final. We will analyze some things, we know they have quick players. We will look to organize our defense, but we know our biggest strength is putting our opponents under pressure."
