Honour Samini As A Legend - Epixode to VGMA

Epixode is asking the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards to remove Samini from the categories he has been nominated in for the 'VGMA 22' awards because a legend should not be compared to upcoming boys.

According to him, if another person is awarded the prize over Samini in any category it would be a grave insult to all Ghana because of the impact Samini has had on the music industry.

Samini is the one that has paved the way for most dancehall artists and just because so,e are doing well now does not mean they should be selected over the legend as being better because they would not be where they're without Samini.

Epixode, who has been nominated for the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year, alongside Samini noted that an honorary award would have been more fitted to Samini's stature instead of placing him alongside upcoming boys like himself.

“I think Samini should be honored as a legend. He shouldn’t be mixed up with the kids. He deserves too much too to be put in these categories. Because he actually paved the way for some of us to follow. And as much as he is staying relevant, imagine a youth who just started a year or month ago wins this award over Samini. Me, I wouldn’t like it. So, Samini should just be honored as a Godfather.”

This he said on Simply Showbiz hosted by Mz Gee.

He further noted that artists should win in categories not because of songs but the whole genre should be comprehensively analyzed for the fairest outcome.

Per his view, he deserves the award because of how has promoted the genre and with his performance at the VGMA X’perience Concert and VGMA launch.

Finally, he admitted that not winning wouldn’t halt his pace in the industry as said he would continue to do what he does to prove people wrong.
