Heavy rainfall has hit some towns on the Kwahu mountains at Kwahu Asona which lies on the low ground along the Nkawkaw-Kumasi Highway in the Kwahu West Municipality in the Eastern region destroying properties.

Heavy rainfall has hit some towns on the Kwahu mountains at Kwahu Asona which lies on the low ground along the Nkawkaw-Kumasi Highway in the Kwahu West Municipality in the Eastern region destroying properties.

The heavy downpour amidst rainstorms destroyed a lot of buildings and structures in the town. Several buildings collapsed including the roofs of the basic school block ripped off, destroyed electricity meters, and electric cables were found on the ground posing a risk of electrocution which cannot be counted per the number of destructions of properties caused by the rain.

The Odikro for Kwahu Asona, Nana Agyei speaking to Sorienews correspondent explained that the disaster has caused havoc to the people in the community over the destruction and called on the government, NADMO, ECG, and GES to come to their aid.

Some of the residents who spoke to Sorienews explained how it happened and counted several properties that have been destroyed such as collapsed buildings and many more are unbelievable, they plead with the government to come to their aid to support them in reconstructing their collapsed buildings.

The Assemblyman for Dancing electoral area, Hon Joseph Ameyaw added that several thirty-three (33) homes have been affected in addition to the basic school block at Asona.

He again called on the government, NADMO, and the Member of Parliament for Kwahu West Constituency to come to their rescue to alleviate the situation.
