Growing up, I was constantly influenced by Christianity, says Kwesi Arthur.

One of Ghana's top performers, Kwesi Arthur, is known for songs like "Woara," "African Girl," and "Baajo."

In a video posted by Pulse Ghana, the singer describes how nearly every member of his family practices strict religion, illustrating the influence this lifestyle has had on him.

"I was raised in a church. My mother gave me the name Emmanuel, which is Greek for "God is with us." I was raised in a church, so. In a church, I was created. My two uncles also work as preachers. I have a ministerial cousin. My grandma took an active part in her church. Every weekend we would go and set up my uncle's church back when he was just starting out. We sometimes play music and other things. I believe that my involvement with the church dates back to my early years. Therefore, I am unable to escape it, he said.

"I have always had that Christian influence, sure," he continued. "I went to a mission school as well, and that be SDA, and I was kind of highly engaged and I was in a choir as well. It was something I was powerless to escape.
