Group calls for removal of Tema West MCE

A group of members of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) is calling for the removal of the Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) for Tema West, Honourable Anna Adukwei Addo.

The MCE has been accused of verbally abusing the Health Director of the municipality.

Accounts of an eye witness indicate that Mrs. Adukwei Addo was seen shouting, yelling, and ruining abusive language at the Health Director after an assembly held event last Thursday, March 23, 2023, without any provocations.

According to the group of people, the MCE's behavior does not befit the status of an MCE.

The incident was reported to have happened in the full glare of the public who gathered for the assemble-organized event. The unacceptable behavior which occurred after the last Thursday program has cast a deep crack on her leadership ability. Given that, there are calls for her removal. This is due to the numerous questions that have been left on the minds of many about her attitude juxtapositing with her position. In another twist, reliable information available to this site reveals that the MCE’s action follows an impasse between herself and the Constituency Secretary for Tema West by name, Citizen Obrempong, who happened to be the husband of the Municipal Health Director. The unprinted words reported to have been used by the MCE were described by many who witnessed the incident “Go and tell that your useless husband of yours, I taught he is educated but if he is not, he should get some education and level headed. Go and tell him that, I’m a Ga woman and I can call fool myself”, the MCE allegedly said. The gross disrespect and conduct of the MCE toward party members have come under question by most constituency executives. It is also believed that her husband is a known NDC financier and that, she only put up a fake posture to just get this job. Many have questioned her involvement in the actual NPP campaign as she was never seen to be campaigning for the NPP during elections. According to our sources, the party foot soldiers are currently very upset with her and have threatened to vote against the party in the 2024 elections if the leadership does not remove her from office. There are also Allegations that the MCE has a bad relationship with the Social Welfare Director of the municipality. Some staff and opinion leaders who spoke to the media on condition of anonymity revealed that the conduct of the MCE is becoming unbearable and difficult to work with at the municipal assembly. The team tried getting responses from the MCE, the Municipal Health director, and the constituency secretary but proved futile. Sources also revealed that constituency executives in the coming days will hold a crunch meeting to settle the impasse between the MCE and the constituency secretary.
