Gov't supply 1,500 furniture to Basic Schools in the West Gonja Municipality

The Regional Minister for the Savannah Region and also acting Municipal Chief Executive,(MCE) Honourable Saeed Jibreel Jegede says the government is working assiduously to fix furniture lapses in schools not only in the West Gonja Municipality but the entire Savannah region.

The Regional Minister for the Savannah Region and also acting Municipal Chief Executive,(MCE) Honourable Saeed Jibreel Jegede handed over 1,500 dual desks furniture to the West Gonja Municipal Directorate of Ghana Education Service, (GES).

This is the third time such gestures has been extended to support basic schools in the Municipality.

He said education is the bedrock of every nation that's why he has placed priority on that sector since his appointment as the MCE.

The handing over was done on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, in a short session ceremony held at the regional capital Damongo in the Savannah Region.

“To make teaching and learning effectively is to make classroom conducive, make the classroom beautiful, let the children have furniture, let the teachers have furniture and they would see the classroom as a second home” he emphasized.

According to him, the government is working assiduously to fix furniture lapses in schools not only in the West Gonja Municipality but the entire Savannah region.

He stated that after all appointments are done by the president of the Republic, the necessary stakeholders and departments would be brought together to set a certain percentage target of solving the furniture problems in the region.

The issue of schools not having adequate furniture is not only affecting the West Gonja Municipality but the entire Region hence the government taking steps to put an end to it.

He pleaded with the Municipal Education Directorate to make sure the onward distribution of the furniture is done on time.

The Municipal Director of Education who was on another official duty was represented by Mr Dramani Katribi and however assured the acting Municipal Chief Executive and also doubles as the Regional Minister of its distribution in due time.

Mr Dramani expressed the directorates appreciation to the Municipal Assembly and Central government for the support and hope that more of such will come to salvage the furniture deficit in basic schools in the Municipality.

The short ceremony brought together some officials from the Ghana Education Service and the Municipal Assembly.
