Ghanaian gospel musician Joseph Matthew, who is residing in the UK, has received a lot of criticism for his appearance, especially for sporting dreadlocks.

However, he claims that performing gospel music is not about appearances.

The Promised Land singer claimed in a recent interview with Metro TV that he thinks it odd that people would jump to judgment and call someone "property of the devil" simply because they wish to look different from others.

Appropriate education is necessary. Many believe that because it's the gospel, you have to sing in a specific style, dress in a specific way, and have a certain appearance.

People must realize that clothing in this manner and having dreadlocks will not send someone to hell.

When serving God, you ought to be able to look good, feel good about yourself, and wear nice clothes. "The song's message remains unchanged, and its quality remains unaffected," he declared.

Joseph revealed in a previous interview from January that the artists' lack of togetherness is being caused by the apparent factions inside the gospel industry.

He said that although he doesn't live here and does his music business in Ghana, he periodically travels back to the country to promote his music and has observed the regrettable events that are seriously damaging the sector.

"I can state with confidence that, compared to our gospel artists, secular artists are more united and exhibit greater affection for one another. At the time, he stated, "It seems like it is difficult to push your works when you are not part of their team.

There are some purported gatekeepers promoting some artistes under the guise of being managers."
