Girls Dormitory at the Tolon Senior High School in the Tolon District of the Northern Region have been burnt by fire whilst classes were in session.
The intensed fire which hugely affected the first floor of the building destroyed several items such as chop box, clothings, foodstuffs, beds and learning materials belonging to the poor students.
ADOII Hudu Baba, the Northern Regional Public Relations officer of the Ghana National fire Service said their personnel were able to arrest the fire from extending to the second floor of the building.
He said, each of the Dormitory contain about twenty (20) students and they had almost all their items completely destroyed, stating that those items are prone to fire.
He noted that there were not casualties except two students who collapsed as a result of the fire outbreak, and that the service personnel were also able to salvage some items at the second floor of the Dormitory.
On the cause of the fire, he mentioned it could be associated to electricity fault but investigation will be established to discover the real cause.
Meanwhile, the school authority have temporary close down the school to one week.
