The bedroom apartment, according to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Assin Foso, Mr. Nicholas Kofi Baako would help to halt the long time accommodation challenges facing the police service in the Assin enclave of the Central Region.
The district police commander's residence project was commissioned by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Assin Foso and Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, and Assisted by Assin Foso Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent, Madam Edith V.  Gaanu.
Speaking in an in with soireenews.com, the MCE noted that although the constitution of Ghana has given the mandate to the personnel of the Ghana Police Service to protect the citizens their accommodations are a major challenge.
He pointed out that some of the police officers live in rented while others live in those days' Gold Coast Buildings.
"How can policemen in such conditions without peace have sound minds to work with commitment?
"The government encouraged the Municipal and District Chief Executive to ensure that they put proper measures to expand security and equip them with the proper logistics and that motivated me to put up an apartment to reduce the high cost of rent and also to motivate the police to work with dedication,"  Mr. Fifi Baako added.
The Central Regional Police Commander, DCOP Alex Amenyo stated emphatically that the standard police to Civilians ratio should be 1:50 but now the figure is higher than 1:2000 so it must be a shared responsibility because the police service alone can not do it since they can't be everywhere at any time.
He, therefore, advised the general public to be vigilant and sensitive to their security anytime.
