Ghanaian midfielder Sulley Muniru retires from football at age 29

Sulley Muniru, a midfielder from Ghana, declared his retirement from the game at the age of 29.

The younger brother of Sulley Muntari, a former member of the Ghana national team, Muniru, announced his retirement from the game on his official Instagram account.

In 22 appearances for FC Minsk during the 2021–2022 season, the 29-year-old scored twice.

Muniru spent a brief periode with Ghanaian powerhouse Asante Kotoko before joining the Belarusian club.

Muniru has declared his retirement from football, although he intends to continue participating in it in other capacities.

Muniru began his soccer career with the Ashanti Akim Missiles youth team in his home country of Konongo. Later, he joined the junior team of Liberty Professionals.

In 2013, Muniru signed his first professional contract with CFR Cluj of Romania during the January transfer period.

Muniru, who committed to FCSB for four years in June 2015, was purchased by the Romanian champions for an undisclosed sum.

He scored his first goal for the team against AS Trencin in the second leg of the Champions League second qualifying round.

He played four times and contributed an assist for his next club, Tondela.

On August 15, 2019, this footballer signed a contract with FC Tambov of the Russian Premier League. He was only ever put on the Russian team once.

On November 2, 2020, Muniru agreed to a two-year contract with Asante Kotoko at no cost to himself.

On January 22, 2021, he left the team after five appearances.
