‘We didn’t visit galamsey sites to pray for galamseyers to stop work’ – Rev Frimpong Manso

Rumors that Reverend Professor Paul Frimpong Manso and other pastors visited the galamsey site to pray have been refuted by the former general superintendent of the Assemblies of God in Ghana, Reverend Professor Paul Frimpong Manso.

According to a video published by Accra's UTV, Christian ecumenical leaders in Ghana may be seen singing "Yen Ara Asaase Ni" and other national anthems at a location in the Eastern Region.

Later, they were observed doing prayers.

The pastor leading the prayer is heard stating, "We pray that our people will humble themselves and change from their wicked ways... heal our land and save us, heal our nation."

The pastors' excursions to the galamsey places, where they pray, have drawn criticism from some Ghanaians.

They are accused of lacking common sense, which is the main charge brought against them.

Rev. Frimpong Manso refuted accusations that people went to Oyerepa Breakfast Time to pray for galamsey to stop, calling the news careless.

"We did not come to the Galamsey site to pray. We could have remained in our home if it had just been prayers. Galamsey has been the subject of numerous reports. We went there to verify the validity of the galamsey.

"We begin everything with a prayer. Therefore, we had to pray and give God thanks for his protection when we got there. We asked for forgiveness after realizing that Ghanaians had offended God by destroying the fertile land.

We prayed to God to give us strength to combat the threat. We prayed both before we began and after we finished. He declared.

Rev. Manson angrily retorted, "No, we did not pray for galamseyers to stop," in response to the question posed by the show's host, Kwesi Parker-Wilson. I'll end the call if you drag me there. I feel the comment is an insult to me, and I find the news stories offensive.
