Ghana Tourism Authority resolves the copyright case involving Kirani Ayat

The Ghana Tourism Authority and the copyright infringement matter have reportedly been settled, according to musician Kirani Ayat and his crew.

The 'Guda' artist finally addressed the world about his protracted dispute with the Ghana Tourism Authority on Monday, October 31, 2022: he posted a joint press release on his Twitter account.

On September 27, 2022, Mr. Ayat Maqwam, alias Kirani Ayat, learned that the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) had used the film's visual remains without his consent.

According to the agency, GTA has been heavily utilizing these photographs since 2019 in the development of numerous tourism-related products.

We're happy to inform you that the parties' disagreement has been resolved amicably.

Moving forward, Ayat and GTA aim to collaborate on a range of projects with the shared objective of bringing attention to Ghana, our magnificent natural resources, and our dynamic human potential around the world.

Everyone in Ghana who has offered their support to Ayat is appreciated. Aisha's Sun, his newest CD, will soon be available.

Kirani Ayat blasted the Ghana Tourism Authority on Twitter for using clips from his song "Guda" without his consent in a president-related promotional video.

Kirani Ayat expressed his displeasure at having his work used without his consent, claiming that he had put money into creating the video on his own without assistance and that he had not received compensation for its use.

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has refuted claims that material from the new tourism promotional film was taken.

The video Kirani Ayat claims to own was legitimately licensed from a production company in 2019, according to a news release from the Authority.
