On Saturday, March 21, 2020, President Nana Akufo-Addo announced the closure of the country's borders as of Sunday, March 22, to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the country.

The Assembly Member for Berekum Suntreso Electoral area in the Berekum West District of the Bono Region Hon Samuel Kwame Oppong Tiah has revealed that Ghana is bleeding through its various borders.

Ghana -Togo, Burkinafaso and Cote D'Ivoire are still bolted following President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo's decision to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Assemblymember is alleging that the securities agencies at the various borders are accumulating huge sums of monies into their pockets whereby the nation is losing. He has therefore appealed to the president to open the borders soon to boost Ghana's trade.

He is also calling for a screening Centre at the borders for a fee. This he said will help the nation to move forward in gaining from the borders and not losing.

As such, the country has been closed to all but returning Ghanaians and foreign nationals with Ghanaian residence permits.

The president also directed for a 14-day mandatory quarantine if returnees show symptoms of the virus.
