The board of the Ghana DJ Awards has announced that it has created a new category in its award scheme for DJ's who entertained Ghanaians during the Coronavirus lockdown period.

The award scheme produced by Merqury Republic, which is the biggest DJ event in Africa, introduced the all-new category to award the Disc Jockeys who took out of their precious rest times to cater for the music needs of Ghanaians.

It said that although life is slowly returning to normal, the contributions made to the entertainment industry and millions of homes by DJ's when it was needed the most during the lockdown period through their various social media platforms will not be overlooked.

The new category has been labeled 'THE LOCKDOWN DJ AWARD’.

Nominations will be selected by Ghana DJ Awards’ board but the winner will be chosen by votes from social media users who have been paying attention to the words of the various DJs during that entire period.

The board is comprised of fans and an esteemed group of entertainment professionals in the fields of television, music, social media, digital marketing, journalism, public relations, and creative arts.

Fans will be able to cast their vote for their favorite DJs via text, on ghanadjawards.org, and both Twitter and Instagram @ghanadjawards designated hashtag.
