Ghanaian comedian, Derrick Kobina Bonney a.k.a DKB, has announced that he will be retiring from the art of comedy.

DKB took to his social media page, Twitter, to announce the decision following the constant wave of criticism that he receives daily over his lifestyle choices.

According to him, he gets bad press because people think comedians must suffer on-stage and off-stage to make them happy.

The recent attacks on the former Big Brother Africa housemate came when he openly chastised actress Efia Edo for her public display of indecency on Twitter.

"I'm RETIRING from comedy. I'm tired. Enough of negativity & disrespect, I didn't kill anyone, I just make people laugh, so why the insults in return? My mental health is important to me. So-called fans also don't show love publicly. I've lifted Ghana comedy, done my part," he wrote.

The ex Comedian, who is also a TV presenter, event organiser and talent manager hails from Accra.

He recalled how he entered Big Brother StarGame because it's a platform for people from different cultures and socialisation to meet and bring the best out of themselves while also describing himself as sociable, kind, trustworthy, entertaining and adaptable and promises viewers "non-stop entertainment".

DKB's role model is Tyler Perry because of the way he's used his talent to empower black people. He says his Uncle has had the biggest influence on him "because he has taught me how to be a responsible man". His favourite part of Ghana is the Cape Coast, while the best thing about Africa is the culture.

He's a huge fan of Ice Cube and Tyler Perry and enjoys the music of Sarkodie, M.I.m, Jay-Z, Eminem, HHP, Busta Rhymes, Usher and Freshlyground. If he wins Big Brother StarGame, DKB would use the grand prize money to improve his life and that of his family. He would also start a business and create a charity investment that would sustain the outreach for a very long time.

He hopes that participating in Big Brother will better his interpersonal relations with people from other parts of Africa and boost his image as a formidable showbiz personality.
