Focus On Revitalising Ayalolo And Metro Mass Transport System  -Drivers Union Urges Dr Bawumia

The True Drivers Union has called on the Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia to focus on revitalizingAyalolo and Metro Mass transport system.

"As a station master, Dr Bawumia should know that the problem of the commercial transport service is not about the mode of payment of transport fares or the inaccessibility of taxi services by passengers,' the True Drivers Union noted in a statement copied to Soireenews.com.

The statement which was signed and issued by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of True Drivers Union, Mr Yaw Barimah denied that the Commercia drivers have not said that Uber and other ride-hailing groups have taken over their business.

"We only sought a fair system of allowing taxi entry into public offices and installations just as Uber and others are allowed entry. This unfair treatment has nothing to do with digitalizing the operations of taxi services.

"Again, our greatest challenges have to do with high cost of fuel, spare parts and roadworthy charges. These cannot be improved by digitalizing taxi operations but by government economic policies aimed at reducing the high cost of inputs used by drivers," the statement said.

The statement painted out that the touch and pay app that the vice president proposes will have a bigger challenge concerning paratransit passengers.

According to the statement, "This is because our services are not a fixed route and transiting passengers will overly be charged which will result in low patronage of our services.

The statement  asked the vice president to focus his attention on revitalising the government transport system the Ayalolo and Metro mass system. He should pilot this digital transport system with the Ayalolo and Metro mass transport.

"If the vice president wants to become a digital station master or bookman, he should understand the Adoato taxi transport system, the culture of the people and how they embrace technology. When these are considered digital transport system will be the last option," it concluded.
