Traders at the newly constructed Kejetia Shopping Mall in the Ashanti Regional Capital, Kumasi are complaining of perennial floods two years after its commissioning.

Some traders blamed the development on the bad behaviour adopted by their fellow traders who sweep and dump the rubbish into the gutters while others say the gutters constructed are too small to contain the water.

Speaking to Republic Press, Mrs Victoria Agyeman said anytime it rains, the whole market gets flooded and "it always takes the intervention of the military and the police to rescue traders."

Mrs Agyeman said last Monday, August 30, 2021 spots of rain caused floods because people are found dumping waste into the gutter.

"I think that city authorities must employ people to constantly distilled the gutters to make way for the water to flow frequently," she stated.

Some traders also blamed poor work done by the contractor of the multimillion-dollar project.

The traders are therefore calling on the government of Ghana and Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to immediately look at the cause of perennial floods in the market and find a solution to the issue.
