Energy Minister Pledges Support For  Green Ghana Project
Hon Matthew Opoku Prempeh

The Minister of Energy, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has partaken in the Green Ghana project with his staff on Friday, June 11 2021.

The Green Ghana Project is aimed at encouraging Ghanaians to use the day to plant more trees to preserve and protect the country’s forest cover and the environment.

However, the Minister welcomed the project and assured his outfit support for its effective implementation.

According to Dr Prempeh, his outfit will exceed the target given to them under the Green Ghana project.

The Forestry Commission, through the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, has launched the Green Ghana Project to plant five million trees across the country as part of an effort to re-Green Ghana and protect the country’s forest reserves.

The project forms part of activities to mark this year’s International Day of Forest.

Honourable Matthew Opoku Prempeh said the rationale for more trees in Ghana formed part of a strategy and a programme to embark on an aggressive aforestation to protect forests and the environment in Ghana.

He made known that the initiative was a joint responsibility for which more broad-based support was needed to address the adverse degradation of Ghana’s forests and ecosystem.
