First Lady, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo refunds amount of GH899,097.84 through her CBG
In an earlier released statement from the Office of the First Lady, Her Excellency Rebecca Akufo Addo "is doing this as a purely personal decision without prejudice to the right of others, and not to undermine the propriety of the process undertaken by Parliament.”

The First Lady of the Republic, HE Mrs Rebecca Akufo Addo has refunded all monies sent into her Consolidated Bank of Ghana's (CBG) account since January 7, 2017.
An amount of GH899,097.84 was returned by the First Lady to demonstrate her allegiance to her mother Ghana.
In a press statement signed by the Communications Director of the Office of the First Lady, Korkor Bleboo on Monday, July 12, 2021, was asked to refund all monies received from January 2017 till date.
A statement signed by Shirley Laryea from the Office of the First Lady has stated that Her Excellency the First Lady of the Republic is refunding the amount stated above and also taken the opportunity to decline any allowances to her in the future.
“Her Excellency the First Lady remains committed to her role as First Lady and devoted to her charity work championing the wellbeing of women and children in Ghana”, it added.
