Financial Network Scam Causes Tinkon Teacher's Suicide Death
The late, John Asamoah Duodu

The teacher who committed suicide on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at Tinkon is said to have been influenced by his girlfriend to enter into a Ponzi scheme.

The teacher, who was identified as John Asamoah Duodu popularly known as O-Level hanged himself to death after being scammed by his own girlfriend in connivance with some staff of Qnet, an alleged Ponzi financial network.

The incident occurred at Tinkong in Akuapem North Municipality in the Eastern Region of Ghana at about 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 18, 2021.

He was found hanging dead with a rag around the neck in a room of a family house.

An investigation conducted indicates he was deceived by his girlfriend to take a loan to invest in network marketing in Koforidua which later turned out to be a Ponzi scheme.

He was therefore using his monthly salaries to defray the cost of the loan leaving him a peanut to live on every month.

This brought untold hardship on the deceased teacher who was recently posted to the Afram Plains area north.

His Brother Benjamin Boateng said, “Apart from the fact that he complained that he only takes home ghc500 after deduction of his loan. He was hallucinating too so it seems evil forces were haunting him”.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Tinkong Community morgue for preservation and autopsy.
