Bessa Simons is new MUSIGA President

Bessa Simons, a seasoned Highlife performer, is the president of MUSIGA. The renowned Highlife artist defeated his lone opponent Ras Caleb in a hotly contested election held today under the supervision of the Electoral Commission of Ghana to win the position of newly elected President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).

Bessa, who had been serving as the acting president of MUSIGA since Bice Osei Kuffour's resignation, received 324 votes, whereas Ras Caleb received 66.

A sizable number of MUSIGA members participated in the election, which was held in each of the areas, and showed up to cast their ballots.

At the Accra Tourist Information Center, MUSIGA Greater Accra Region members voted.

After the election was delayed four times, it is anticipated that today's vote will put an end to all the ongoing disputes among union members.

Bessa Simons made a commitment to work diligently to represent the interests of musicians across the nation in an earlier interview with Graphic Showbiz.

His victory and appointment are anticipated to bring in a time of innovation and expansion for the group and the Ghanaian music industry as a whole.

In MUSIGA, he stressed the need of cooperation and togetherness, saying that "together, we can achieve great strides in the music industry."
