 A-38-year-old factory hand has been remanded by the Ashaiman Circuit Court for raising a false alarm of missing manhood.

Atsu Torkpo was remanded by the Ashaiman Circuit Court after being arraigned before it on two counts of publication of false news with intent to cause fear and alarm; contrary to section 208 of the Criminal Offenses Act, 1960(Act 29).

And on count two, Atsu Torkpo was charged with the offense of offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace; contrary to section 207(1) of the Criminal Offences Act 1960(Act 29).

The court presided over by His Honour Mr. Simon Nketiah Gaga remanded the accused person into police custody to enable further investigations into the health condition of the accused.

Following the urgent need to ascertain the health condition of the accused person,the judge adjourned the case to 30-04-24 for his plea to be taken.

Presentation; DSP Mrs. Dorothy Boadu Peprah reading the Number 48598 D/CPL. Dennis Dzometsi I/C told the court that on April 13, 2024, at about 1940 hours at Ashaiman Overhead, there was a report that the manhood had disappeared without lawful authority.

The sad false report was likely to cause fear and alarm to the public.

The complainant, Patrick Darko age 52 is a clerk at Akyainu and Associates residing at Teshie, Accra whilst the accused, Atsu Torkpo, 38, is a factory hand and resides at Trasacco, Accra.

She told the court that on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at about 7:40 pm, the complainant in the company of his two siblings was transiting from Krobo Odumase to Manet, Accra via public transport, and upon reaching Ashaiman main traffic, he alighted to buy some stuff leaving his two siblings.

The complainant after buying his stuff walked to meet his two siblings who were waiting for him at the Ashaiman Overhead near the Motorway.

But upon reaching a portion called Sakasaka Park, he met the accused person.

The complainant asked the accused person for directions to the overhead and as the accused person was about to lead the complainant to the said location, he excused the accused person to urinate in a nearby bush.

A few minutes later, he returned to meet the accused person to lead him to the overhead.

But to his dismay, the accused person started raising the alarm that the complainant touched him and his manhood had disappeared.

The alarm attracted onlookers to the scene who made attempts to lynch the complainant but by the timely intervention of the Tema Regional Highway Patrol Team and his siblings, he was rescued. He was brought to the police station together with the accused person.

The accused person was re-arrested at the police station and a physical inspection conducted on his manhood by the police revealed that the said manhood did not disappear and that the alarm raised by the accused person was false.

After investigations, the accused person was charged with the offenses and put before the honorable court.
