They explained that the government through the Student Loan Trust Fund has paid their feeding component to the college for onward disbursement to the students thus GH¢ 784.00 for each student.

Tension is seriously brewing in Mount Mary College of Education, a teacher education college in Somanya of the Eastern Region, following the move by level 400 students to demonstrate against authorities over massive extortion.
According to the aggrieved students, they had fed themselves during their four month off campus teaching practice. 
They explained that the government through the Student Loan Trust Fund has paid their feeding component to the college for onward disbursement to the students thus GH¢ 784.00 for each student.
The students numbering 356 said authorities supposed to refund an amount of GH¢ 279, 104.00 to them but they said they have not received any money from government. 
Fortunately, according to the students, they have evidence that their colleagues from other colleges such as Gbewaa College of Education, Bagabaga College of Education, St. Joseph College of Education, Enchi College of Education among others have received theirs.
But  management of Mount Mary College of Education has denied receiving such monies from the government.
Against this backdrop, the level 400 students are, therefore calling on all stakeholders to as an matter of urgency intervene for the monies to be refunded to them since they are completing school tomorrow and possibility of loosing that money is high. 
They alleged that the massive corrupt practices going on in the school by SRC and management of the school which needs serious investigation to save the suffering students who are already burdened. 
They complained of poor feeding despite the payment by government through the students loan Trust Fund.
