Former Manchester United captain, Roy Keane has said the team deserves all the plaudits following their 2-1 win over Liverpool on Monday, August 22, 2022.

The Red Devils recorded their first victory of this season, thanks to goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford.

Although Mohamed Salah pulled one back late in the game, Erik ten Hag’s men held on for all three points.

“Going into the game, the manager made some big calls dropping Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo, and the players responded. They were excellent.

"It’s a huge boost for Ten Hag. It will give everyone a lift and the feel-good factor will be back for a few days.

"They deserved the criticism last week but they were outstanding tonight. Great commitment, great desire. Tonight they deserve all the plaudits,” Keane said on Sky Sports.

The win for United ensured Liverpool have failed to win their first three games of a Premier League season for the first time since the 2012/13 season under Brendan Rodger.

It was the manner of Liverpool’s performance was a point of concern for former United skipper Roy Keane, who suggested Reds boss Jurgen Klopp will be worried about the form of his defensive talisman Van Dijk after a shaky performance against Fulham earlier this month was backed up by this uncertain display against United.
