For the first time since 1999, Nottingham Forest will return to the elite of British football: the Red and Whites validated their return to the Premier League by dominating Huddersfield in the playoff final.

Steve Cooper’s men gained promotion to England’s top flight, thanks to a 1-0 win over Huddersfield at Wembley on Sunday, May 29, 2022.

Levi Colwill’s own goal in the 43rd minute was the difference between the sides in the Championship play-off final.

Forest will now play in the Premier League for the first time since 1999.

It completes a remarkable season for a side that was bottom of the table after eight games when Cooper took over in late September.

Fulham and Bournemouth are the two clubs that have already clinched automatic promotion.

They will replace Norwich and Watford, who spent just one season in the top tier, as well as Burnley.
