Everton drop points for the first time this season but are top with 13 points as Liverpool rise to second on 10 points.

Sadio Mane gave Liverpool the lead as early as the 2nd minute after a sweeping move. Salah and the Senegalese got involved following a lovely nut-meg on the right side by Alexander-Arnold on Andre Gomes. Andrew Robertson was fed to the left and his cut-back was thrashed home first-time by Mane.

Jordan Pickford‘s rash challenge on Virgil van Dijk in the yard ended the minutes of the defender as Joe Gomez replaced the Dutchman in the 9-minute.

Liverpool’s failure to defend a set piece in the 19-minute earned the Toffees an equalizer. A corner was taken by Rodriguez and Michael Keane rose above Fabinho to head past Adrian.

The Reds lifted the tempo of their game once again and enjoyed more of the game in front of the Everton half only for Mane to be fouled late by Gomes.

Jordan Pickford did exceptionally well to spring across and tip Alexander-Arnold's curled attempt around the post.
