Liverpool jubilate infront of fans.

Liverpool moved back to second, levelled on points with Spurs after a scintillating 4-0 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah, Gini Wijnaldum, Joel Matip and a Semedo’s own goal extended the Reds 65 matches unbeaten at home, which was also Wolves’ joint-heaviest margin of defeat in a Premier League game since their return to the division in 2018.

The visitors exposed the threats of the Reds in the initial minutes with crosses yet Kelleher’s steadiness was key in keeping Liverpool in the game. Traore was playing with chalk on his boots as he kept his width and Wolves players looked to him at every opportunity. Liverpool surrounded him with two-three players to dispossess him from providing threats.

Podence nearly scored the Reds opener and clipped the ball from the edge of the penalty area towards the far corner in the 17-minute.

The effort had Kelleher on the move, but the young goalkeeper moved his feet well to get a touch and tip it around the post.

Salah scored the opener 24-minutes in the first half after Coady’s howler.

The former Liverpool defender appeared to be in no danger as the ball was played forward and all he had to do was head the ball clear, but he tried to chest it down, he did it wrongly given Salah the chance to pounce before firing past Patricio and into the bottom corner.

Referee Craig Pawson awarded a penalty to Wolves two minutes to the end of the first half. Mane attempted an overhead kick as he tried to clear the ball. Coady got to the ball ahead of the Liverpool forward and he went down but after VAR’s review, the penalty was dissolved as there was no contact after the Senegalese pulled out of the challenge.

Wijnaldum doubled Liverpool’s lead in the 58-minute. Moments after Coady had a good chance to equalize, the Reds stunned Wolves on the counter. The captain released Wijnaldum who shifted the ball onto his right foot before curling it beyond Patricio and into the top corner in front of the Kop.

Nine minutes later, Joel Matip added a third after Liverpool went for a short corner and Salah's cross picked out Matip at the far post. The defender emphatically headed home before celebrating in front of the Kop like never before.

Semedo wrapped up with a fourth from an own goal in the 78-minute when Alexander-Arnold drilled a stunning ball down the corridor of uncertainty that Mane tried to bundle in at the back post, but he was beaten to it by Nelson Semedo, who had an own goal on this chastening evening at Anfield for Wolves.
