Jose, known to transform clubs by cashing in big names will have to focus on youth at Spurs, which is potentially great news for 17-year-old striker Troy Parrott, who has been prolific for Tottenham at youth level and is reportedly wanted by Bayern Munich and Juventus.

Sir Alex Ferguson has advised new Spurs boss, Jose Mourinho on the benefit of trusting in young footballers as a manager.

The Special One in his first interview revealed that he is not willing to bring big name signings at Tottenham Hotspurs for he prefers to work with the squad Mauricio Pochettino left. He hinted to a newfound commitment to the growth of the club’s academy stars.

“I really like this squad,” Mourinho said. “Looking to the young players, there is not one manager in the world that doesn’t like to play young players and to help young players develop. There is not one.

“The problem is that sometimes you get into clubs where the work that is below you is not good enough to produce these players so I look to our history and you see that the academy is always giving the talents that the first team need.

“Of course I look forward to work with that profile.”

The Premier League this season has produced lots of yuoung and talented players in the persons of Mason Mount, Calum Hudson, Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori are doing since the arrival of Frank Lampard, who has shown what can happen when you put faith in youth.

According to Fergie, young players fight with all they have when given the platform to prove recalling that Manchester United were crowned Premier League champions and won the FA Cup in 1996 with a team packed with their ‘Class of 92’ graduates and with an average age of 26 years and 137 days.

 

 

“The thing about young people is, if you give them an opportunity, not only do they seize it, they never let you down,” he told Ian Abrahams on talkSports.

“They have enthusiasm to do well.”

“If we go back to the young lads of ‘92, you give them an opportunity to play for Man United in front of 75,000 and they don’t want to miss that,” the legendary coach added.

“And they all did very well, and they’re also very good human beings.”

Asked about the current crop of United youngsters where Marcus Rashford, McTominay and Mason Greenwood all thriving, Fergie added: “They’re all doing well.

“It’s a good set up at United. For any young kid going there, it’s a great club to go to.

“And I think England are producing great young players who are representing their country and that can only be a good thing.

“Hopefully Scotland can follow that!”
