Obi Cubana has been released from the the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), after spending three nights in detention.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has finally released billionaire businessman, Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana.

Recall, the Anambra-born club owner was arrested and taken to the headquarters of the anti-graft agency, Jabi, Abuja, on Monday, following allegations of money laundering and tax fraud.

The popular socialite was, however, released on Thursday evening, November 4, 2021, after he had spent three days in detention undergoing interrogations.

EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujar confirmed the release of the billionaire to The Guardian.

“It is true”, Uwujaren said while declining further comment on the matter.

It was further gathered that Cubana would be prosecuted for the allegations levied against him.

Cubana, who spent three nights with the anti-graft agency was released after he perfected his bail conditions.

Obi Cubana had arrived at the headquarters of the EFCC at Jabi Abuja at about noon on Monday, November 1, 2021.

The EFCC reportedly confiscated the passport of the businessman, to prevent him from leaving the country while under investigation.
