THE DORMAA West District Assembly in the Bono Region is one of the assemblies that performed creditably in infrastructure, social development, and improvement of peoples' living standards for the past years.

For almost two years now, this is from November 2021 after the assumption in office by the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Mr. Kojo Oppong Francis, the district assembly has undertaken more than hundreds of infrastructures and social intervention development projects.
These projects were in the areas of roads, education, health, agriculture, sanitation, housing, hygiene, social welfare service, security, youth and sports development, water and roads.
This came to light when the District Chief Executive spoke in an interview with the Soireeneews.com to respond to a number of unsubstantial allegations levelled against him by some self seek people in the district.

His response follows a call of thousands of residents to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to remove of their non performing District Chief Executive from his office.
According to the residents, the disappointed DCE must pay for depriving the various communities of their development.
They were of the view that the DCE failed to perform in his first term in office and however, dared the traditional council to come out openly on the achievements of the current DCE since his assumption into office for past years.

According to them, Mr Francis has been sleeping for the past two years and there is no hope that he can wake up from his slumber very soon to tackle the numerous problems affecting his people.
“We can boldly say without any reservations that, the Dormaa West District is in a total mess and nothing seems to be working out to better the lives of the people,” the residents stated.
They said indiscriminate dumping of refuse due to lack of dustbins at vantage points in Nkrankwanta township including Diabaa, Krakrom and Yaakrom and defecation into gutters as a result of toilet facilities which are white elephant are reasons for this mess that Dormaa West District finds itself.
“We are always at mercy whenever it rains heavily in Dormaa West District” Our roads got flooded with a huge chunk of plastics and polythene bags and the mind-boggling aspect of it is that we have lived with this over a decade without antidote,” they complained.

They expressed their displeasure and disappoinment in the DCE for abandoning projects left out from his predecessor in his own government.
The abandoned projects are ;uncompleted Chip compound at Awiakrom, abandoned six class units block at Kwadwo Kumikrom, abandoned ten seater toilets facilities at
 Diabaa, Krakrom and his own native town Yaakrom, abandoned heaped refuse dump and deplorable roads, an allegation DCE denies.

Some of the markets women also lamented  on lack of urinal facility at Nkrankwanta Friday market and no street lights bulbs which they even threatened to demonstrate against the government if the DCE haven’t been sacked.
The residents further stressed that, they are of the view that Dormaa West DCE must be part of the 24 MMDCES sacked by President .
But in a rebuttal, the DCE noted that since he  assumes office under his ‘Let’s Make Dormaa West District work campaign, he has undertaken several initiatives to provide lasting solutions to everyday challenges in the district, with the view to transform the district.

Mr Francis added that he is working diligently in completing almost all abandoned projects started by his predecessor.
According to the DCE, he looks ridiculous on air when these people of the MP used his pro NDC radio station, Nkoromma FM to make numerous unguided and foul remarks statement against him without provocation.
He indicated that the Nkoromm FM station belongs to the NDC MP, saying that he and his followers are engineering the attacks on his personal.
He asserted that some of the people who the station interviewed are known NDC executives of the Dormaa West Constituency.
"I know a lot of them because the current MP recently on air accusing me that l am blocking his monumental projects which are far from the true. 
"My projects that l have initiated as the DCE who represents the President in the district have been visibly in their implementation communities for those who are doubting them to come and see themselves.
On education, the assembly has constructed different infrastructural projects in our Basic and Senior High Schools across the district.
The assembly has Expanded School Feeding to cover additional schools, adding that the Assembly has started the construction of the six unit classrooms block at Nkrankwanta Presbyterian Basic School which is about at the roofing stage.
He indicated that currently plans were underway for the Assembly to start the construction of the Dormaa West District Education Office, adding that the Assembly will soon execute the contract.
He stated that there is ongoing construction of the kindergarten (KG) block at Yaakrom by the Assembly, adding that his outfit has carried a lot of social and infrastructure intervention projects in the ten electoral areas within the Assembly.
He expressed  surprised that his accusers were naived of all the projects he doing in the district to bring the needed development in the district.
The assembly also procured and Supplied more Mono and Dual desk to Basic Schools across the District and provided financial support to many students across the District.
On Health, the DCE noted that the assembly has started the construction of ultramodern Emergency Unit at the Dormaa West District Hospital and the work is about 85% complete 
He noted that the Assembly constructed several different CHPS compounds in some selected Communities.
On the issue of sanitation, the DCE expressed misgivings about the attitudes of the workers of Zoomlion Ghana Limited to do the work properly on the said abandoned heaped refuse dump at Yaakrom as was being reported by the residents.
According to the DCE, the Assembly has taken the complain of the residents in the good faith.

He noted that when the Assembly realized that the workers of Zoomlion were not doing their works properly, his outfit has officially written letters to the company [ Zoomlion Ghana Limited] and impressed upon the company to come and help the Assembly to evacuate abandoned heaped refuse dump located at Yaakrom.
The DCE has given assurance that plans were underway for the company to come and collect the heaped refuse dump at Yaakrom .
On Electrification, he said the assembly connected more communities to the National grid and supplied and Installed pieces of Streetlights across the district.

On roads, Bituminous Surfacing of some major roads, have been awarded on contract, saying that we are it and we get enough funds we are going to construct the roads to ensure smooth transportation system in the district.
On agriculture, the DCE noted that his investigations have unraved that about 85 of population of the residents in Dormaaa West District are predominantly farmers.
He said this situation has informed his outfit decision to lent more support to the farmers, to boast their farming activities.
He indicated that recently, he brought about 70,000 cocoanut seedlings which he handled them over to the Agricultural Department for unwards distribution to the beneficiary farmers in the district, saying that the Assembly is assiduously monitoring the activities of the farmers.
The DCE disclosed that last year the Assembly has distributed 35,000 oil palm seedlings to famers within the district.
He indicated that the support formed part of government’s flagship agricultural programme dubbed; Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) Programme and also to provide raw materials for the local industries in the area.
The DCE said the government was investing heavily in Planting for Food and Jobs, Planting for Rural Export and Rural Development programmes to encourage the youth to take up Agriculture as a business.
According to him, the Assembly had already distributed free coconut seedlings to some farmers and he was confident that with the numerous interventions, the district was on course to achieve the vision of boosting Agriculture in the area.
He appealed to the beneficiary farmers to adhere to all the directives given by the Agricultural Extension Officers to improve upon the growth of the seedlings on their various farms to achieve the purpose of the programme.
The DCE urged the youth to take advantage of the government flagship programmes to better their lives in order to refrain from illegal mining activities.
"Currently, as l am speaking l have gotten a World Bank social intervention project who h we are coming to alleviate poverty of the people in the district. 
"In the implementation of the World Bank social intervention project, we are going to migrate farmers into this laudable agricultural project so that at the end of every month, the beneficiary farmers would get something to weed in their farms. All these social intervention projects l am doing for my people, so l am saying l have done everything for the people in the district. 
"My outfit has also supported the farmers with the free Ammonia fertilizers to help farmers support fertile soil that feeds crops the nutrients they need to grow. Currently, we have the rice processing factory in Nkrankwanta
On Social Protection, the assembly increased LEAP Beneficiaries households. That is it has  additional households and supported people living with disabilities.
He added that the Assembly also Registered more people free onto the National Health Insurance Scheme and also provided direct employment to some people through the Ghana Productive Safety Net Programme.
In an interview with District Chief Executive, Mr Francis said the performance of the assembly showed the commitment of the New Patriotic Party to bridge the development gap between rural communities and the urban.
According to him, almost all communities in the district were connected to the national grid which was crucial in the effective implementation of the Better Ghana agenda.
Additionally, Mr Francis said the peace and unity the district was enjoying would be sustained, and appealed to the chiefs, religious leaders, opinion leaders, and youth groups to continue supporting the NPP government to develop the area and improve the lives of the people.
